Peta Murgatroyd is taking a break from dancing.
Just over a month after welcoming her and Maks Chmerkovskiy‘s new baby boy, Milan Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Peta announced that she will not be returning for season 33 of Dancing With the Stars.
“As for me,” she stated during an Instagram Live on Aug. 29, “Dancing With the Stars, I’m sorry, but I won’t be back this season.”
She elaborated, “It’s just too soon.”
Peta joined the competition series in 2011 as a member of the dance troupe in season 12 and became a professional dancer in season 13.
Throughout her time on the show, she has won the prestigious Mirror Ball trophy twice: first alongside Donald Driver in season 14, and then with partner Nyle DiMarco in season 22.
Most recently, Peta—who also has two other sons, Shai, 7, and Rio, 13 months, with Maks—partnered with Barry Williams for season 32, starting rehearsals just 10 weeks after giving birth to Rio. At that time, she expressed her excitement about returning to the dance floor.
