Reality TV often showcases intimate moments from people’s lives, particularly when it comes to couples! This holds true in a recent teaser for ‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta,’ which features Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris. In an excerpt from the upcoming episode, the married pair is seen engaging in a counseling session discussing Mendeecees’ decision to take off his wedding ring.

Yandy Questions Mendeecees About His Wedding Ring
Although the clip was released last week, it is now making the rounds. The footage features Yandy Smith expressing to two therapists that Mendeecees has not been wearing his ring during their recent struggles.
“I believe that once we restore respect between us, then we can wear the ring,” Mendeecees explained. He elaborated further upon their request, stating, “My understanding of wearing a ring is that it signifies unity. I’m aiming to get to that point.”
Yandy then followed up, asking if he was referring to the “together or one part” in relation to their marriage. Mendeecees responded with “both,” leaving Yandy visibly surprised before the clip concluded. Watch it below.
Reactions on Social Media
Yandy and Mendeecees began their reality TV journey on ‘Love & Hip Hop New York’ in 2011. Mendeecees proposed in 2014, but he was incarcerated in 2015. Recently, fans discovered that despite their wedding special in 2015, the couple had not been legally married.
They renewed their vows in May 2021, but their relationship has frequently generated discussions on social media. The recent clip about the wedding ring has reignited interest in their relationship.
Commenters in The Shade Room shared a variety of opinions.
@indeskribeabull stated, “Just don’t say anything when I take mine off too. One band, one sound.”
In contrast, @allthingslundye remarked, “Yet she kept wearing hers while he was in prison. If men lack anything, it’s audacity.”
@sioworld1975 provided an extensive critique, detailing perceived patterns in Yandy and Mendeecees’ marriage.
“Let’s be real, ladies. Yandy acts independently and ignores her husband’s advice. She believes she should wear the pants, expecting her husband to agree with her. Mendeecees feels voiceless and alone, as Yandy doesn’t allow him to lead their home. He’s right to remove that ring. It’s unfair to criticize him when he’s hurting. Yandy must recognize that a marriage involves two, with the husband taking the lead. While he shouldn’t control her, his input should say in family decisions, and Yandy isn’t allowing that. I totally support removing that ring,” @sioworld1975 expressed.
Additionally, @real.estate.diva.sandiego advised, “Yandy, he doesn’t want to be with you anymore and stays out of obligation because you supported him during his incarceration. You may think you have the upper hand over his other baby mamas as ‘the wife’, but it’s time to let go of pride and find someone who genuinely wants to be with you.”
Neither Yandy nor Mendeecees has publicly commented further on the issue.
