Royal fans globally are eager for a possible encounter between Prince Harry and Prince William in New York City next month, hoping it will grab tabloid headlines.
The anticipation stems from the fact that both princes will be in Manhattan during late September.
As many know, William and Harry have experienced a significant estrangement for quite some time.
A Royal Rift
Determining the exact moment the rift began is challenging, but it certainly escalated when Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, chose to step back from their royal duties.
The divide widened further after Meghan and Harry’s revealing interview with Oprah, and Harry’s memoir seemingly acted as the final straw.
Currently, Harry and William are not on speaking terms, leading many royal enthusiasts to hope for a potential reconciliation.
Consequently, the news that the two brothers will be in NYC simultaneously has sparked a sense of optimism among fans.
Prince Harry & Prince William’s NYC Run-In: Is It Possible?
It’s already known that Prince William is expected to visit New York soon for the annual Earthshot Prize ceremony.
There are also rumors suggesting that Kate Middleton might accompany him for this important event.
This potential appearance is remarkable given Kate’s recent cancer treatment, and news of her being able to make a transatlantic flight and participate in public engagements would be a welcomed development for her many supporters.
However, some within Kate’s inner circle have expressed concerns that her visit might be “overshadowed” by Harry’s simultaneous presence in the city.
NYC May Welcome Two Princes Simultaneously
Indeed, according to a recent report from Newsweek, Harry will be in New York to represent various philanthropic organizations.
“During UN General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week in New York City, Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, will be in town to promote several of his patronages and philanthropic initiatives,” a spokesperson confirmed to Newsweek.
“He will engage with African Parks, The HALO Trust, The Diana Award, and Travalyst,” the representative added:
“Additionally, he will be advancing the work of The Archewell Foundation, the nonprofit organization he co-founded with his wife Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex.
“More information will be provided as we approach the week of events.”
It’s important to highlight that William’s representatives have yet to confirm his NYC plans, but given his role in co-founding the Earthshot organization, it is widely assumed he will attend its pivotal event.
The question remains: will the brothers take the opportunity to meet up in New York? Unfortunately, we’re not optimistic.
Harry has returned to London multiple times since the brothers severed ties, yet they have not made an effort towards reconciliation.
Perhaps circumstances will be different when both are in the Big Apple, but skepticism lingers.
