Details on the Victims’ Identities
As reported by WSBTV, the deceased have been named as 58-year-old Mirko Marweg and 37-year-old Luis Aldarondo. Initially described as a Delta employee and a contractor, their specific affiliations are still being clarified.
According to AP News, Marweg’s remains were described as “unrecognizable,” making identification reliant on his tattoos and a lanyard. He had a long tenure with Delta, reportedly exceeding two decades.

Additionally, WSBTV reported that the identity of a third victim—currently hospitalized due to injuries sustained from the explosion—has not yet been disclosed. This individual was initially referenced as another Delta employee.
AP News further indicated that the third victim remains “under medical care” as of August 28.

In response to this tragic event, Delta Airlines has confirmed the loss of two employees and the injury of another, stating that they are currently collaborating with local authorities and conducting a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
According to WSBTV, the tire prompting the explosion was sourced from a flight that had arrived from Las Vegas.
