The Gotham Film and Media Institute, the publisher behind Filmmaker, has unveiled the programming for the 2024 Gotham Week Expo, scheduled from Monday, September 30th to Thursday, October 4th across various venues in New York City. According to a recent press release, the Gotham initiative aims to “unite partners from The Gotham’s Expanding Communities initiative to foster community and provide thought leadership on key topics relevant to film and media creators, focusing on challenges and solutions regarding advocacy and career growth.”
The Expo will kick off with a presentation and discussion led by Kamala Avila-Salmon, Lionsgate’s Head of Inclusive Content. This session will offer participants a “detailed overview of Story Spark, a no-cost resource designed to promote collaborative dialogue on inclusive storytelling.”
Leading the Expo sessions will be organizations such as Art House Convergence, Black Film Space, Center for Asian American Media (CAAM), Chicken & Egg Pictures, Distribution Advocates, Film Fatales, Film Festival Alliance, Islamic Scholarship Fund (ISF), Kartemquin, Minorities in Film, Missouri Film Office, Peace is Loud, The Popcorn List, POV Shorts, ReelAbilities, and rePROfilm.
This year’s Expo will also feature a dedicated day for programming on branded storytelling, encompassing discussions on content ownership, aligning identities with brands, and strategies for cultivating relationships with brands and agencies.
