Comedian Doug Stanhope kept his fans on high alert, leading them to believe he had been arrested during a live stream. However, TMZ has discovered it was merely a misunderstanding and an instance of role-playing.
Despite the intense online footage, Stanhope is not in any trouble. A spokesperson for the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office informed TMZ that Doug’s residence in Arizona was utilized for a training exercise by the county’s SWAT team, and he had granted permission for this.
A spokesperson mentioned that when the training exercise began, no one was home. Doug arrived during the last scenario, expressed his desire to participate as a role-player, and received approval. His involvement was entirely voluntary.
Typically, community members are not involved in SWAT training exercises, but Doug made an exception in this instance.
Reports indicate that the SWAT team was refining their tactics and operational procedures during this training session.
To clarify, Doug was neither arrested nor engaged in any unlawful activities. The sheriff’s department has been in contact with him, and it has been reported that he intends to issue a statement soon.
This dispels any confusion, as the scene appeared quite realistic; it depicted Doug seemingly being “apprehended” by multiple armed individuals entering his home, with viewers clearly identifying him. Another individual was also present in the role-play scenario.
We have reached out to a representative for Doug, but there has been no response as of now.
