Lawrence expressed that while he and Alves certainly formed a connection, it was rooted in shared experiences and mutual understanding—rather than any kind of physical intimacy.
Joey elaborated on his marriage, explaining that his two-year union with Samantha Cope was fraught with problems from the outset and ultimately beyond repair, despite his sincere efforts.
Among the primary challenges, Joey expressed concern that his two children from his previous marriage would never be welcomed by Samantha—a significant factor contributing to the breakdown of their relationship.
Joey’s statement comes one day after Melina Alves released her own statement. As reported, the screenwriter took to Instagram to reject the rumors of a romantic affair with Joey while admitting their bond was “a meaningful friendship that developed naturally.”
Alves further disclosed that she and her ex-husband have been estranged since 2023—a claim some sources close to Edward Rider dispute. Additionally, she has a temporary restraining order against him, which Ed believes will be dismissed after the next hearing.
Currently, Joey and Samantha are undergoing divorce proceedings, during which Cope is vigorously fighting for full custody of their daughter, Dylan.
