Rob Lowe shared a hilarious memory from 1986 involving Michael J. Fox that ended with them being caught in a compromising situation.
During the August 28 episode of Ted Danson’s “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” podcast, Lowe recounted, “We were on a bus tour in California for Prop 65, which aimed to clean up our water systems, and it was a star-studded affair. There were two buses involved … We got pulled over for speeding, but also because Michael and I were smoking pot on top of the Greyhound bus.”
As Lowe humorously described, “When the cop pulled us over, it was like a clown car — out popped Whoopi Goldberg, There Cher, Judd Nelson, Michael J. Fox, Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Robert Downey Jr., Jane Fonda, and Danny Glover.”
When Danson probed why the bus was stopped, Lowe replied, “Michael and I had the top emergency hatch open while we were enjoying a smoke.”

Over the years, Rob Lowe has experienced significant highs and lows, including his path to sobriety. After struggling with alcohol addiction, he made the choice to stop drinking in 1990, largely thanks to the support of his wife, Sheryl Berkoff, whom he married in 1991. Together, they share a son, Matthew.
Lowe, now 60, has been open about his journey to sobriety following his challenges with alcohol during the ’80s. He credited his wife, Sheryl Berkoff, for much of his success on this path. (The couple has been married for over three decades.)
“Honestly, she might have saved my life,” he revealed in a 2021 interview with Entertainment Tonight. “She met me at a time when I was at the tail end of my wild days in the ’80s, and she was worth changing my life for. I consider myself incredibly fortunate that our paths crossed. Perhaps I could’ve changed on my own — maybe — but that’s a big question mark. The moment I met her, I recognized that if I couldn’t make it work with her, I surely wouldn’t be able to with anyone else.”

Rob Lowe and his wife, Sheryl Berkoff, have seen their two sons follow in their footsteps in the entertainment industry. The couple first met on a blind date in 1983 and reconnected years later when she worked as a makeup artist on a film set.
“I can remember it as if it were yesterday. My mom left a message asking me to ‘pick up, pick up’ because my grandfather had a heart attack. I couldn’t handle the news in my current state, so I resolved to sleep it off,” recalled the St. Elmo’s Fire star, mentioning a bottle of tequila by his side. “Who doesn’t have a bottle of Cuervo Gold on their bedside table? That was my final wake-up call. Since then, I have remained sober.”
